Parya was a little girl with bright eyes and a giggly laugh. She loved spinning, jumping, and—most of all—karate. Every morning, she’d tie her white karate belt in a careful knot, tuck her hair behind her ears, and whisper, “Let’s go, Parya the Little Karate Star!” Parya’s karate class was full of kids. Some were bigger, some were smaller, but nobody had a grin as wide as Parya’s. They bowed to Sensei Lee, their teacher, before every lesson. Sensei Lee was wise and gentle. He said, “Karate is not just about strong kicks—it’s about strong hearts, too!” One sunny afternoon, Sensei Lee lined up all the children. “Today, we learn the Tiger Jump!” he said. Everyone gasped.
